Our Vision
We believe all children have the right to grow up in a safe and loving family environment, with a secure future. We believe that best alternatives for children are provided in a family environment where children receive individual care and attention.
Our Principles
The core principles of EveryChild in Ukraine are based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and other international and national legislation and conventions which regulate the protection of children's rights.
We believe that:
Life opportunities are greatest when they are brought up in their
own family
- Or, it this is not possible, when they grow up in a family-type environment. We are convinced that the responsibility for the welfare of children should rest with national bodies using local resources.
Special attention needs to be given to children deprived of parental care.
Partnerships with government and local and international NGOs
- Partnerships at different levels help to ensure that activities are coordinated and that the most effective solutions to childcare issues are found. Child welfare can only be improved and child care reform implemented in close collaboration with the governments of the countries in which we work.
Therefore, we place great importance on working through close partnerships with local and national government, NGOs and agencies working in childcare reform.
The best interests of the child
- The best interests of the child should be the key principle for anyone making decisions about children. National and regional programmes should focus on the best interests of children.
- Or, it this is not possible, when they grow up in a family-type environment. We are convinced that the responsibility for the welfare of children should rest with national bodies using local resources.
