Our Focus

EveryChild particularly concentrates on the violation of rights that have a direct bearing on preventing separation and supporting separated children, i.e. rights on protection and family environment and alternative care.

To support our work, EveryChild adopts the concepts and positions outlined in documents such as:

- "A World Fit for Children" adopted by the UN Special Session on Children in 2002;

- the Millennium Development Goals that bring together development and human rights and the main conventions and treaties that make up the human rights framework, most particularly the UN CRC and its optional protocols (especially the protocol on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography).

Key Elements of the Strategy

• Promoting the development of a model of integrated social services as means of reducing family crisis, preventing institutionalisation of children and providing social support for alternative substitute family placements. 

•  Supporting positive change to the existing childcare system and introducing alternatives to large-scale residential institutional care.

• Building capacity of state authorities, local authorities and NGOs to protect children's rights.
