      EveryChild's Ukraine Campaign on Child Abandonment received awards for effectiveness

      In December - EveryChild Ukraine & PROVID information campaign on Prevention of child abandonment "Want to meet" implemented last year won prestigious silver EFFIE Award (it was the only award given to social projects) in the first international competition in Ukraine, estimating not only creative finds but also effectiveness of expenses of advertisers on advertising.

      Training on interagency co-operation for specialists working with emergency foster family

      On the 23-24 of September in Brovary, Kyiv region EveryChild Ukraine will arrange training on inter-agency co-operation for specialists working with emergency foster family in terms of the project "Preventing Separation of Children through Implementation of Gate-keeping Mechanism". The objective in this training is to outline the approach to inter-agency work which is envisaged by the project, and the process by which this work is to be implemented and monitored.

      EveryChild Ukraine became a partner of UNICEF project "Development of Gatekeeping Policies and Systems for Institutionalized and Other Vulnerable Children"

      The duration of the project is two years, and it is co-funded by the European Union and UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).The main goal of the joint project is developing mechanisms of transformation of the current institution-based system of state care of children without parental care into a family-based system.

      UN Human Rights Council supports new international standards on child care

      EveryChild is pleased to announce that the UN Human Rights Council has adopted an important resolution which affects the UN guidelines on alternative care for children. These guidelines clearly set out that the best forms of care for children are family-based, and institutional care should only be used as a last resort. They also recommend that countries should invest in family-based alternatives, such as adoption and kinship care.

      Global recession is increasing the number of children being abandoned, trafficked and exploited, warns EveryChild

      Today, on the UN International Day of the Family (Friday), international development charity EveryChild is warning that the global recession is leading to more children being abandoned, trafficked and exploited across the world. As food becomes scarcer, parents face unemployment and families become desperate, children are leaving their homes and schools to find work. Some children are migrating away from families, some are trafficked and many are abandoned into orphanages. At the same time governments are cutting their already limited support for child care and child protection services.

      Spotlight on creative social work training

      Getting and holding attention in training sessions is a challenge, even for good trainers. EveryChild Ukraine in co-operation with partner organization - Institute for Human Services (USA) launched a Programme of training of trainers in social work for families with children in terms of the project "Preventing Separation of Children through Implementation of Gate-keeping Mechanism". Training Curricula and training modules for trainers in social work for families with children are developed as for local trainers, as for trainers and specialists from other organizations and regions in Ukraine.
