The establishment of the network of regional Centres of Social Services for Family Children and Youth in Kyiv oblast has been finalised
In February 2007 an Agreement on the Development and Implementation of Social Services for Family, Children and Youth has been signed with Poliska Rayon State Administration. This event finalised the development of network of regional Centres of Social Services for Family Children and Youth (CSSFCY) in Kyiv oblast.It is significant that all the rayons and towns in Kyiv oblast are now involved into the EU Project Development of Integrated Social Services for Exposed Families and Children. Before the agreement was signed, there was neither a centre nor social workers in Polisky rayon, though the rayon itself is quite problematic; it is located in the Chornobyl zone, a significant number of families are poor, and there are many migrants from Kyiv.According to the Agreement during the current year a rayon CSSFCY will be created, and from February 14 a social worker began to work and has begun preliminary assessments of families in crisis.The population in the region is 6.5 thousand, of whom 1.5 thousand are children and 40 children are living in the rayon Children's Home.
