Concrete steps to provide children’s individual needs
On the 20-21 of March EveryChild Ukraine specialists will hold a training with Children’s Home personnel of Byla Tserkva, Kyiv region, devoted to provision of children’s individual needs as a basement for their further development and personal growing. The training provides the trainee with a framework in which to analyse the dilemmas that frequently arise in everyday work from a child protection point of view, and to take decisions on appropriate action.
The training will focus on the assessment of children’s needs in the early age. Moreover, participants will find answers to the questions: How safe and secure does the child feel? How much trust can he put in his world? The answers to these questions can affect how he views the world for the rest of his life. Specialists will explore patterns of attachment, the implications of attachment across child’s life, and the various influences on attachment in institutionalised system, as well as will try to find ways to maximise the provision of children’s needs in chuildren’s homes.To understand Attachment theory concepts more rapidly trainers will view films “7 magic steps” and “The Way Home”and then discuss them in groups under the guidance of Mariya Rostal’na - EveryChild Ukraine training manager and Olena Kotok – trainer of Kyiv regional training center.During the training a State programme of reformation of internats will be examined, family-based forms of care for children will be discussed. Participants will practice in development of individual plans and will see the presentation “Chronicle of my life”.Training is a part of “Preventing Child Abandonment “ project, financed by World Childhood Foundation and aimed at reduction by 2010 the number of children who grow up in children's homes by 30% or where there is a risk of their placement providing them with proper development in family environment.
