EveryChild Ukraine at the festival of social initiatives
More than 40 social projects from all over Ukraine were brought together in one of the central halls of Kyiv house of Officers. Undoubtedly, the column hall of the 19th century blue renaissance building had never been a witness to this density of regional social problems and proposed solutions. This event became a part of festivities connected with 15th anniversary of State Services of Ukraine – major source of timely support for crises families, orphaned children, disabled and elderly.
EveryChild Ukraine was privileged to present two social initiatives in terms of the exhibition: “Social Services for Vulnerable Families and Children in Kyiv Oblast of social problems” and “Prevention child abandonment” projects, implemented with Kyiv regional state administration.
“I was quite surprised by the interest from common visitors and media to our presentations, - said Oksana Shved, communication manager of EveryChild Ukraine. My first impression was that most people go out of curiosity and very few of them have any serious intention to understand the social problems, we are trying to influence: goals, tasks, progress, graphs and numbers. But as I started conversation with visitors, I found out that many of them heard about our information campaign and were keen on its results, moreover, by the end of the day we ran out of our information materials – everybody was eager to take something about EveryChild Ukraine with him,” – she added.
Apart from the exhibition of social projects people were advised to look through the exposition of the finalists of the Fourth Social Advertisement contest. The collection of 400 works presented the best examples of printed, out-door and visual social advertisement from 26 regions of Ukraine.
“Information campaign – “Want to meet...” presented by EveryChild Ukraine attracted much attention from visitors, as one may see, it is frequently captured by mobile cameras and is used for background by photo correspondents”, - Alexandra , facilitator of the exhibition admitted.
“I personally think it is very original, moreover, it has already become the “leader” of on-line discussions on Internet thus provoking a great social interest to the problem of women who are going to abandon their children. The idea worked: more than 130 calls to social services in two months, 400 services provided to crises clients, proved it” – she said.
The aforementioned information campaign could become the best example to a master class “Why we do not need a social advertisement?” conducted by Pavel Piminov form AntiAIDS foundation. It practically proved his statement that preparation work is 100% of success. According to Pavel, creating a detailed brief, having a clear vision of target audience, and repeating like mantra the main question “WHY?” after each step – are the key elements of a working social advertisement.
At the end of the event EveryChild Ukraine was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports and State Social Services for Family, Children and Youth for a fruitful cooperation and development of social services network. It became not only a pleasant recognition of our work at highest state level, but also a proof of willingness to co-operate between government and NGOs in effective solving of social problems.
