GENEVA, 14 June - the Pre-sessional Working Group of the Committee on the Rights of the Child met in Palais Wilson, Geneva to conduct preliminary review and to examine supplementary and alternative information on the promotion and protection of children's rights in Ukraine. A pre-sessional working group of the Committee convened a private meeting with UN agencies and bodies, NGOs, and other competent bodies which have submitted additional information to the Committee. -

Young Ukrainian care-leavers will get a sure start for independent life
Kyiv, 26 May, 2010: "Sure Start: care leavers integration programme (2010-2013)" - a new Ukrainian-Swiss project set up by Partnership for EveryChild, Swiss Branch of International Social Services with partner Kyiv Oblast State Administration will help to develop a model of social adaptation and professional integration for independent living for children in out-of-home care in Ukraine. The project will help young people get access to social support, occupation, to find a job, to solve the problem of housing. -

On the 26th of May at 11 p.m. a press conference "Care leavers: from State Care to Independence" will be held for the launch of 3 year Ukrainian-Swiss project "Sure Start: Care-Leavers' Integration Programme" (Kyiv Oblast State Administration, room 740, 1, Lesi Ukrayinky sq.). On 9-20th of April EveryChild Ukraine takes an active part in a study visit to explore Ukrainian childcare system and system of social services for colleagues from Tajikistan. -

18 March, EveryChild Ukraine and State Social Services for Families, Children and Youth set priorities for 2010 and signed an agreement for increased cooperation at the national level in an effort to improve social work with vulnerable families with children and develop a modern legal framework of social work.
